CRITICAL CONSENSUS

The Queen is an unexpectedly moving portrait of the British royal family, with a remarkable performance by Helen Mirren.

SYNOPSIS
"The Queen," an intimate, revealing, often humorous portrait of the British Royal family immediately following the death of Princess Diana, stars Helen Mirren as Queen Elizabeth II, James Cromwell as Prince Phillip, and Michael Sheen as Tony Blair. The film is written by award-winner Peter Morgan and produced by Andy Harries, Christine Langan, and Tracey Seward, and executive produced by Francois Ivernel, Cameron McCracken, and Scott Rudin.

MOVIE MISTAKES

Mistake #1
The film is set in 1997 the year of Diana's death. However there is a scene in where Tony Blair is being driven in a car and you can see a Mercedes through the rear window with an 02 number plate indicating a 2002 model vehicle.

Mistake #2
In a scene where Tony Blair and Charles are talking on the tarmac by a jet plane, you can see that the rotor blades of the jet engines are stationary yet you hear the noise of the jets still operating.

Mistake #3
In the scene where Tony Blair is at his home in front of a large bookcase, there are at least two books behind him that were published after 1997, when the film is set. The thick, distinctive spines of David Mitchell's 'Cloud Atlas' and Jonathan Franzen's 'The Corrections' can both be seen.
